Flash Your Stash 2007

1st April each year is "FYS" day over on the knittyboard. So here's mine. Significantly enhanced in recent weeks by the wonderful KnitHappens and Purl.

<-- Here's a view of it in it's entirety.

And a few closeups.
I'm off to get my needles out now.....

Easter Bunnies

We had a super morning at the park today. An easter egg hunt with the cousins. Here they are, Matt, Teddy, Owen and Oscar. Teddy's basket is fully loaded, being the oldest and best at finding eggs! They all loved the candy. Yes, really.

And here I am with the prettiest girl in the world, Gracie. Look at her hair, isn't it just precious. She's such a sweetheart. So happy all the time.

Teddy was so excited to get 'The King' from Cars the Movie in his easter basket. For a long time he's been saying "I'm NEVER going to get the King", all sad-like. Now he has him, he's been saying he's so happy all day. That warms a mommy's heart.
I got this lovely yarn in the mail yesterday, a swap I made with curlytop from the knittyboard. I love the colours and am seriously considering making a small bag to felt with this yarn. I'm loving the green right now.

Also in the mail, another swap. I traded with another etsy seller for this pretty glass pendant.

Busy, busy, busy

I've been busy, really. On Monday last week, Tommy got out of bed to find the boys already up and about and eating lollipops at their table. They drag the kitchen chairs up to the closet and climb to get them! Cheeky monkeys.

Tuesday they got sick. We took them to the doctor and Matt went on an IV drip to rehydrate him, poor love. He continued being sick for the next 3 days. A lot of time was spent on the sofa cuddling up and napping. And a lot of time was spent in the laundry room too. I don't know how many wash cycles we went through.

Here they both are, snugged up on the sofa in their blankies. I knit the red afghan. It's sort of a patchwork of cables, bobbles, chevron and basketweave patterns. Thank goodness I made it with acrylic. That went in the wash too. I always tell Teddy that when he's snugged up in it, it's like having a cuddle from mommy, because she made it for him. That makes him smile.

They are all better now, thank goodness.

Teddy is back in school today, so Matt and I joined Ann, Mo, Oscar and Gracie for a quick trip to the beach. Matt still doesn't like the water, but he enjoyed the animal crackers and dinosaur ritz. Of course, I forgot the camera, so no pics of the great event. Next time maybe.

I have been busy at the sewing machine again, making bags for my etsy shop. I've sold 3 now - I'm very pleased. I did a trade for 2 of them and deleted them from the shop, so it only looks like I sold 1 - now I know a way to leave them on there for trades. You live and learn. Here's a piccy of the first bags I made.
I've been busy knitting too, but on secret projects so I can't post pictures yet.
It's difficult to keep up this blogging thing, but I like the weekly posting - I'll try for more often though.

A Good Day

Today was a good day.
Our neighbour is alive, if not well. He has a tube in his throat to help him breath, and has some fluid remaining in his lungs. He is conscious, but disoriented. The prayers continue for his recovery.
I made the first sale on my etsy shop. www.discoknits.etsy.com One of the first bags I made on my new sewing machine.
And I won some yarn in a contest on Jessica's blog
I seem to be having luck with contests of late. A couple of weekends ago at our local Relay For Life, we won a family portrait session at the beach. Today I also got some nice new clothes for us all to wear for that.
Yes, a good day.

Happy St Pat.'s?

Well, what a day of ups and downs. Or rather one big up and then one huge crash down.

The big up: we went to the St Pat's day parade in Naples and had a GREAT time. This was my and the boys' first St Pat's day parade. The boys loved it and were so well behaved. They had fun at the playpark first, then we crossed the street to watch the parade. They were very pleased with the candy and beads thrown from the floats. See us all in our green shirts->

It always chokes me to see NYPD and NYFD and they were part of the parade. They will forever be tied in my memory to Sept 11th and thinking about that day breaks my heart over again. Which kind of brings us to the big down of the day.
We came home, had lunch and were just hanging out when Tommy saw an ambulance drive down our street.
To cut a long story short (I just typed it out, it's a long story!) our neighbour across the street found her husband face down in their pool. He was flown to the hospital and mercifully regained consciousness, but was immediately sedated and a whole series of tests are now being done on him. So we don't know the level of his consciousness yet or whether he has any permanent damage.
Just yesterday afternoon at around the same time of day, Matt and I were talking to them on our driveway as they took a walk. You just never know when is the last time you get to see someone or talk to them.
A prayer for our neighbours tonight......

SuperMatt

Matt has taken to wanting to wear Teddy's underpants.....over his clothes!!!! Who are we to deny him his super powers.

In true 3 year old, Cars the Movie fanaticism, Teddy has christened his doll, Baby Lightning McQueen.

peas in a pod

Who doesn't like a pool-shot?!

Here are some alpaca/silk ipod pouches - to be sold (hopefully) on my sparkly new etsy store. Well, later tonight after I've posted them anyway.

They are made with the pattern posted earlier and are scrummy and soft, just like the scarves I made with the same yarn.

Here's a shot of Felders Jnr in action on the baseball field. It's his last day of 'season' today. Up next, basketball I think.

And Felders miniature, still with the rabbit.....
