The March hat is done, and boy, was it a quickie. This is
Ripley, by Ysolda Teague. Knit in Baby Alpaca Grande.

I wasn't intending to make any 'slouchy' hats, but I really like this one. The 'slouch' is taken up by the pleats in the back, which are really easy to knit.

A close up of the pleats....

Simple crown decreases are pretty enough.

I had read a ton of people on Rav say that the edge band was really tight, so I chose this bulky alpaca yarn, thinking it would stretch on blocking. It definitely needed that. Admittedly, I have a large noggin, but I could barely get the 'large' size that I knit, over my head. After blocking I can - just!
If I knit this again - and I most definitely will - I will knit more garter rows on the band, then do fewer increase stitches.

Oh man--that yarn looks amazing! What a purr-worthy hat!
How pretty! Her hat's been on my to-knit list forever!
Love it in the light color too.
Debs - I LOVE this hat!!! Miss knitting with you!!!!
I never thought I was a fan of slouchy hats until I made my sockhead hat - so maybe I will have to try this one. Unfortunately, as much as I love my new short hair, short hair and hats don't go together very well.
