Ripley - March Hat

The March hat is done, and boy, was it a quickie. This is Ripley, by Ysolda Teague. Knit in Baby Alpaca Grande.
I wasn't intending to make any 'slouchy' hats, but I really like this one. The 'slouch' is taken up by the pleats in the back, which are really easy to knit.A close up of the pleats....
Simple crown decreases are pretty enough.
I had read a ton of people on Rav say that the edge band was really tight, so I chose this bulky alpaca yarn, thinking it would stretch on blocking. It definitely needed that. Admittedly, I have a large noggin, but I could barely get the 'large' size that I knit, over my head. After blocking I can - just!

If I knit this again - and I most definitely will - I will knit more garter rows on the band, then do fewer increase stitches.

Pattern: Ripley by Ysolda Teague

I never thought I was a fan of slouchy hats until I made my sockhead hat - so maybe I will have to try this one. Unfortunately, as much as I love my new short hair, short hair and hats don't go together very well.
